Jordan Condemns Houthi Militia’s Targeting of Riyadh with a Ballistic Missile

Al-Taj News – Jordan condemned the Houthi militia’s targeting of the city of Riyadh with a ballistic missile, which Saudi air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed, along with its attempts to target civilians and civilian objects in the cities of Bish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu, considering this a blatant violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, a threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity, and a breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

Official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, affirmed Jordan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all steps it takes to protect its security, stability, resources, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Earlier, the official spokesperson for the Joint Forces of the “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen,” Major General Turki Al-Malki, announced that Saudi air defenses had intercepted and destroyed, early Saturday, a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh.

Al-Malki said the Houthis’ escalation and continued attempts to target civilians and civilian objects in the capital, Riyadh, which is home to more than 8 million citizens and residents, reflect their persistence in deliberately and systematically targeting civilians and civilian objects, in conduct he described as terrorist and hostile.

He added that the Houthis attempted to target civilians and civilian objects in the cities of Bish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu, but Saudi air defenses thwarted these attempts.

Al-Malki stressed the coalition leadership’s right to take whatever measures it deems appropriate, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, to deter Houthi conduct.
